Hi, I’m Angie and I’m from beautiful Carinthia / Austria. Since our house is located on the mountains it’s more or less a given that you grow up with a bike seat under your rear, so I’ve been straddling my bike for over 20 years now.
After I got my degree in Tourism at a school in Pinzgau / Salzburg I had the urge to go back home, where I worked as a Ski and Snowboard Instructor in the winter. During that time I was still involved in Cross Country Competitions, but after a while I grew tired of that and was on the outlook for new challenges, which I found eventually at the 2003 Downhill World Cup in Kaprun / Salzburg. I met with a new Sponsor (Team Bikeman) who helped me to launch my Downhill “Career”, therefore I moved to Sauerland /Germany.
In 2004 and 2005 I competed in both national and international races, mostly downhill, but then I started to participate in 4X and Freeride competitions. My highlights where definitely the 4X National Championship and finishing 4th in the 4X World Cup in Schladming / Austria, both events took place in 2008.
During spring and summer I was often on the road, competing in events not only in Austria and Germany, but all over Europe (Slovenia, Scotland, France…) and even in Canada. But in the offseason I usually head back home to Carinthia to work at my Dad’s Tire Shop, which is meanwhile managed by my brother. I help out in the office and the workshop to make some money for the Bike Season. I hardly take part in competitions anymore, my goal right now is more to ride the bike and inspire other riders, to pass the spirit and share experiences with others.
Now I have the opportunity to travel, go on photo trips and just be available for my sponsors. My supporters never pressure me to do this or that, which I really appreciate. I am truly grateful that they just trust me and give me the opportunity to live my dream!
Do what you want and what makes you happy.
Bye,
Angie
